I bought the whisk with intentions of using it to match the overall aesthetic when I make my matcha [抹茶] (also purchased from Ocha & Co.)。It's been about a month and after 8 total uses it has still maintained it's most of its original shape, color and has shown no signs of fraying. Although the ends have uncurled after multiple uses it maintenance is fairly simple. I place it on the palm of my hand, not flat but slightly cuffed and gently push down repeatedly until it regains its shape.
Closing thoughts: If someone were to ask me where they could buy 抹茶 and other Japanese products, I would suggest Ocha & Co.
The pictures are to give you an idea of how it looks after repeated use and maintenance. Enjoy making ocha! :)
It arrived from Hokkaido in a timely manner and the box and item in perfect condition. Thank you!! Now I can make my Uji matcha tea effortlessly and I cherish my whisk from Nara!!
This whisk works so much better than the one I purchased in Japan while I was there. I think the whisk has finer strands that allow it to mix the matcha much better and also achieve a greater froth.
Genuine & Authentic Craftsmanship.
Purchased top 2 best seller Bamboo Chasen from Amazon, No comparison whatsoever to the quality and authenticity of the Chasen I purchased from Ocha.
I sincerely admire my Chasen, it's a delicate piece of art..
The Nara Chasen is beautifully crafted, handle feels smooth, the weight is perfect and comfortable to use, the 80 prongs each separated by black thread are curved elegantly, and awaiting the moment of use in preparing wonderful foam and blending the matcha. As you prepare the Chasen for making the matcha, the artistry of the master craftsman is captivating. I’m grateful Wakasa Inoue has shared his artistry in making the Chasen.
